Driving from Agadir Airport to Taghazout: Route, Time and Tips
By OM Drive Cars Agadir OM Drive Cars Published 6 min read

Taghazout is the surf village 19 km north of Agadir. From Agadir Al Massira Airport the drive is roughly 60 km and takes 55–70 minutes, entirely on good asphalt.
The route in three legs
- AGA → Agadir (25 km, ~25 min). Leave the airport and follow the N1 towards Agadir. Dual carriageway, well lit, easy.
- Agadir bypass (10 km, ~15 min). Stay on the ring road rather than crossing the centre, especially between 12:00–14:00 and after 18:00.
- Coast road to Taghazout (20 km, ~20 min). The N1 hugs the Atlantic past Aourir and Tamraght. Two lanes, sharp bends, spectacular views.
Worth stopping for
- Aourir (Banana Village) — roadside stalls selling small sweet local bananas.
- Tamraght — quieter than Taghazout, good breakfast spots.
- Devil's Rock / Banana Point — a natural viewpoint over the surf breaks.
Practical driving tips
Fuel up in Agadir; stations north of Tamraght are fewer. Watch for pedestrians, scooters and the occasional donkey cart on the coast road, and avoid driving it after dark on your first night — the bends are unlit. Parking in Taghazout is free but tight; expect a parking attendant asking for 5–10 MAD, which is normal.
Which car suits this drive?
Any of our economy cars handles the coast road perfectly. If you plan to continue to Paradise Valley or the Imouzzer piste, an SUV such as the Dacia Duster gives more clearance and comfort.
Before you drive: see how airport pickup works and pick a car on the fleet page. Staying up the coast? We also deliver to Taghazout, Tamraght and Aourir.
